Working to bring us to the future of lung cancer treatment now.

The Robert White Foundation was created in honor of Robert White, who is currently navigating small-cell lung cancer (SCLC). Robert White is an outstanding husband, father, and Grampy who has spent every day of his life making everyone around him’s lives better in every way.

SCLC is a fast-growing, aggressive type of lung cancer that accounts for roughly 10% to 15% of all lung cancer cases and is strongly linked to tobacco smoking. Research is ongoing, and currently, there are limited treatments available to those navigating the diagnosis. The Robert White Foundation hopes to support the current and future research of Dr. Jessica Lin, a renowned thoracic oncologist and researcher at Mass General Brigham. Her groundbreaking research has already brought new treatments to patients, and we could not be more honored to support her future work.

People stay at the heart of every decision.

  • We believe in science, the scientific method, and rigorous peer-reviewed research.

  • We believe patients should benefit from medical breakthroughs as quickly and safely as possible.

  • We believe small-cell lung cancer deserves greater attention, investment, and urgency.

  • We believe research can turn today’s limited treatment options into tomorrow’s longer, better lives.

  • We believe in supporting innovative researchers who are willing to challenge assumptions and pursue new approaches to treatment.

  • We believe decisions about cancer treatment should be grounded in evidence, expertise, and the individual needs of each patient.

  • We believe patients and families deserve clear, trustworthy information during an extraordinarily difficult time.

  • We believe no patient or family facing small-cell lung cancer should feel that they are facing it alone.

  • We believe collaboration among researchers, physicians, patients, families, institutions, and donors accelerates progress.

  • We believe hope is most powerful when paired with action based on treatment steeped in the scientific method.

  • We believe every contribution matters, and that focused philanthropy can help move promising research forward.

  • We believe progress should be measured by its impact on patients: better treatments, better outcomes, more time, and ultimately cures.

  • We believe medical knowledge and the best treatment options should be available to anyone, regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or national origin.

  • We believe in addressing the root causes of small cell lung cancer via advocacy and speaking truth to power on awareness of preventable risk factors.
